Sergeant Betts was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Sergeant Betts was an equipment operator with the 630th Engineer Light Equipment Company, 19th Engineer Construction Group. When he was operating a bulldozer, a can of gasoline exploded causing severe burns and acute pulmonary edema. He was taken to the 11th Evacuation Hospital where he died on September 29, 1953.
