For his leadership and valor, Sergeant Crawford was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Sergeant Crawford was a Light Weapons Infantryman with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in Korea on September 23, 1950 and returned to duty on September 27, 1950. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 28, 1950 and was killed by a guard on December 3, 1950. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
