For his leadership and valor, Lieutenant Frankovich was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Lieutenant Frankovich was the pilot of a F4U-4 Corsair fighter with Fighter Squadron 653 aboard the aircraft carrier USS VALLEY FORGE (CV-45). On January 9, 1952, while on patrol in the 20 miles northwest of Yodo-ri, North Korea, he became separated from his wingman. He reported loss of oil pressure and was not heard from again. He was presumed dead on May 24, 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
