For his leadership and valor, Corporal Gasquet was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

Corporal Gasquet was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a light machine gunner in the 3rd Platoon, Company G, 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. On November 26, 1950 near Kunu-ri, North Korea, he covered his platoon's withdrawal, by delivering accurate fire on the enemy while exposing himself to their fire. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
