For his leadership and valor, Sergeant Miller was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart with Gold Star, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal, the Pacific Theater of Operations Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Notes
Sergeant Miller was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a machine gun squad leader with Company B, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy at "Horseshoe Ridge", north of Chunchon, South Korea, near the 38th Parallel on April 24, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
