Corporal Williams was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Corporal Williams had completed his tour in Korea and was returning to the Unites States on the transport Aiken Victory, when he was diagnosed as having poliomyelitis and needed a respirator. The Coast Guard flew 871 miles from San Francisco and parachuted a respirator in two waterproof packages. On August 27, 1951, he died.
