For his leadership and valor, First Lieutenant Wiseman was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

First Lieutenant Wiseman was the pilot of a F-80 Shooting Star with the 25th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, 51st Fighter-Interceptor Group. On December 20, 1950, he led a flight of 4 F-80's on low level support near Chorwon, North Korea destroying three tanks and eight buildings. Later, he was reassigned to the 15th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing. On June 10, 1951, while on a reconnaissance mission, he sent a distress message and contact was lost. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
